Settings and Notifications

Where Goal Planner notifications and account settings live, the eight settings tabs and how the notification list can be filtered to show only Goal Planner messages.

Goal Planner has no settings of its own. The two buttons at the bottom of the sidebar, Notifications (bell) and Settings (gear), open shared NevaPlan pages that every module uses. This article explains what you find there for Goal Planner.

Notifications

Click the bell at the bottom of the sidebar. The Notifications page lists your messages from all modules. To see only Goal Planner messages, open the module filter (it shows Goals) and keep it on Goal Planner.

The Notifications page filtered to Goal Planner messages

What you see on the page:

  1. Mark All as Read — marks every notification as read.
  2. All, Unread and Archived — the status tabs.
  3. The module filter, which shows Goals for Goal Planner.
  4. A search box, Search notifications....
  5. Date range buttons: Last 7 days, Last 30 days, Last 90 days and All time.
  6. Each message, with a coloured dot when it is unread, a title such as Goal overdue: Phone-free weekends (8 weeks), the text, the module tag Goals and how long ago it arrived.

Goal messages are about deadlines: a goal that is coming due, or is now overdue. The message suggests adjusting the deadline or breaking the goal into smaller steps.

Goal reminders are created by a scheduled job. If you do not see new reminders for a while, check the deadlines on your goals first. A goal without a deadline never gets a deadline reminder.

Settings

Click the gear at the bottom of the sidebar. The Settings page has a list of tabs down the left side under Account Settings. The eight tabs are Profile, Security, Connected Accounts, Preferences, Notifications, Integrations, Subscription and Data & Privacy. The active tab is shown in green.

The tabs that matter most for Goal Planner are these:

  • Notifications — options for notifications on this device. See the next section.
  • Subscription — lists each NevaPlan module with its subscription status. See Plans, limits and export.
  • Data & Privacy — the Export Data option and the Delete Account button. See the section below.

The Notifications tab

The Notifications tab has a section called On this device. Its settings are stored in this browser only:

  • Notification sound — play a chime when new notifications arrive.
  • Volume — how loud that chime is.
  • Desktop notifications — show alerts from the operating system when the tab is in the background.

How to change your display name

  1. Open Settings from the gear icon.
  2. Stay on Profile.
  3. Change Display Name.
  4. Click Save.

Where to find your data

The Data & Privacy tab shows Export Data, described as a download of all your data in JSON format. That option is marked COMING SOON and does not work yet.

To get your goals out today, use Export on My Goals. It downloads your goals as a CSV file and needs a paid plan. See My Goals.

The Data & Privacy tab: Export Data is marked COMING SOON; Delete Account is in the Danger Zone

The Danger Zone section holds Delete Account. It cannot be undone, so read the warning before you use it.
