Click Open plan on any goal to open its detail panel. The panel slides in on the right of My Goals, and it is where you do almost all the work on a goal: tick steps, add milestones, read your numbers and write notes. It is not a set of tabs; everything is on one scrolling page, in sections.

The goal's name is at the top, with four icon buttons:

  • Share (share icon) — opens the Share Goal dialog. See the section below.
  • Edit (pencil) — opens the goal form. See Creating and editing a goal.
  • Delete (trash) — asks Delete this goal? and then deletes the goal.
  • Close (X) — closes the panel. You can also click outside it.

The header stays at the top while you scroll the panel.

Summary card

The summary card: area, status dropdown, progress ring, steps, days left, pace, estimated finish and Add to Calendar
  • Life area — the area chip, for example Career & Professional.
  • Status — a dropdown with Not Started, In Progress and Achieved. Changing it saves the status for this goal. The status never changes on its own.
  • Progress ring — the percentage of the goal's progress. See Tracking progress for how it is calculated.
  • Steps — completed steps out of the total, for example 5/10.
  • Days left — the number of days until the deadline. Once the deadline has passed it shows Overdue.
  • Steps / week — your recent pace in steps per week.
  • Est. finish — an estimated finish date, based on your pace. It only appears when there is enough progress to estimate it.
  • Add to Calendar — downloads a calendar event for the deadline. It is shown only when the goal has a deadline and is not Achieved.

The estimate and the pace are only as good as the steps you tick. A goal with no completed steps has no estimated finish date yet.

Steps

The Steps section lists the goal's steps in order. Each row has a circle you click to tick the step off (it turns green with a check and the title gets a line through it), a delete icon, and a drag handle to reorder. At the bottom, type into Add a step... and click the + button or press Add Step. Steps are described in full in Steps and milestones.

Milestones

The Milestones section shows your checkpoints, with a counter such as 1/4. Add one with a title, an optional description and a Target Date. Milestones are listed on a timeline; each one can be ticked off, and it can be deleted. Milestones do not change the progress percentage. See Steps and milestones.

Burndown

The Burndown chart compares your actual remaining steps with an ideal line down to the deadline. It needs both steps and a deadline; without them it says Add steps and set a deadline to see your burndown chart.

Description

The Description section shows the fields you filled in on the goal form: What do you want to achieve?, Why Important and Success Measurement. Edit them through Edit in the header.

Share Goal

The Share button opens the Share Goal dialog. It has two parts:

  • Copy Progress Summary — copies a short text with the goal name, its progress percentage and its life area to your clipboard. The button then reads Copied! for a moment. This works today.
  • Invite Accountability Buddy — type your buddy's email address and press Send (or Enter). Your email app opens with a short message and your progress summary filled in; you send it from your own email. NevaPlan does not send anything itself.
