Tracking Progress and Completing Goals

Tick off steps and milestones, change a goal's status, read the progress numbers and mark a goal Achieved.

Once your goal has a plan, tracking it is simple: tick off steps as you do them, tick off milestones as you reach them, and change the goal's status when it's time. This article explains where to do that and what the numbers mean.

See all your goals on My Goals

Click My Goals in the sidebar. Every goal is a card showing:

  • Its status at the top — Not Started, In Progress or Achieved
  • Its life area, name and deadline (with Overdue if the date has passed)
  • A Progress percentage and bar
  • Your next step — the first step you haven't completed yet
  • Step and milestone counts at the bottom (for example 5/10 and 1/4) and an Open plan button

Use the All Areas and All Status filters at the top to narrow the list — for example, only In Progress goals in Health & Fitness. The page header shows how many goals you have in total.

Drag a card by the handle in its top-left corner to put your most important goals first. Reordering only works when both filters are set to "All".

Open a goal's plan

Click a goal's name or Open plan to open its detail panel on the right. Close it with the X button, the Escape key, or by clicking outside the panel.

The goal detail panel: status, progress ring and steps

The top card shows:

ItemWhat it means
Progress ringThe share of steps you've completed
StepsCompleted steps out of the total, e.g. 5/10
Days leftDays until the deadline (shown as Overdue once it passes)
Steps / weekHow many steps you've completed per week recently
Est. finishWhen you'll finish at your current pace

If the goal has a deadline, Add to Calendar downloads a calendar file you can open in your calendar app.

Complete steps and milestones

In the Steps section, click the circle next to a step to mark it complete. It gets a green check and is struck through, and the progress ring updates right away. Click it again to undo.

Milestones work the same way in the Milestones section. Completing every milestone of a goal sets off a small celebration.

If you linked habits to the goal, your consistency with those habits also counts: progress becomes an even mix of completed steps and habit consistency.

Change the status

Completing steps doesn't change the goal's status by itself — you decide when a goal starts and when it's done. Use the status dropdown next to the life area at the top of the detail panel (or the Status field in the edit form):

  • Not Started — planned but not begun. Counted as Waiting on the dashboard.
  • In Progress — you're working on it. If nothing is ticked off for 14 days, it appears under Needs Attention on the dashboard.
  • Achieved — done. You'll see a confetti celebration, and the goal counts towards goals completed on the dashboard.

If the goal is a Repeating goal, marking it Achieved opens a fresh copy for the next period, with the same steps and milestones.

More on the detail panel

Scroll down the panel to find:

  • Burndown — a chart of your remaining steps against an ideal line towards the deadline
  • Description — your answers to What do you want to achieve?, Why Important and Success Measurement
  • Reward — what you promised yourself
  • Notes — a place to journal your progress. Type in Write a note... and add it.

The share icon at the top opens Share Goal, where Copy Progress Summary copies a short text about your progress that you can paste anywhere.

FAQ

They measure different things. A goal card shows how many of that goal's steps you've completed. The dashboard's Your progress panel shows how many of your goals are Achieved out of all your goals.

That's expected — status is never changed automatically. Set it to Achieved from the detail panel when you're happy the goal is done.

On a paid plan, the Export button on My Goals downloads your goals as a CSV file. On the free plan the button shows an upgrade prompt.
