The Goal Planner Dashboard

What every card on the Goal Planner dashboard means: your next step, your progress, life areas, upcoming milestones and the Needs Attention list.

The dashboard is the first page you see when you open Goal Planner. It answers three questions: what should I do next, how am I doing overall, and what is slipping. This article explains each card, from top to bottom.

Header buttons

  • New Goal — opens the goal form. On the free plan, if you already have 3 goals, it opens the upgrade message instead. See Plans, limits and export.
  • Weekly Review — opens the six-step review. It is shown once you have at least one goal. See Weekly Review.

Your next step

The large card on the left picks one goal to focus on. Goal Planner chooses the unfinished goal with the nearest deadline. Goals without a deadline come after goals that have one. Goals marked Achieved are never chosen.

The Your next step card for one goal, with its deadline, first open step and milestones

The card shows:

  1. The goal's life area, with its icon and name.
  2. The deadline. If the date has passed it reads Overdue with the date.
  3. The first step you have not completed yet. Click it to open the goal's plan.
  4. Up to three of the goal's milestones, with their target dates or the text they carry.
  5. A count such as 2 of 5 steps complete, and an Open plan link at the bottom.

If the goal has no open steps, the card says Review your next step and invites you to open the goal and add one. If there are no goals to focus on, it says No available next step. Review your goals to choose what comes next.

Your progress

Your progress panel: goals completed, In Progress and Waiting counts and Top Priorities

The panel on the right shows:

  • 3 / 27 with the words goals completed: achieved goals out of all your goals, with a bar underneath.
  • In Progress — how many goals are being worked on.
  • Waiting — goals that are not started yet.
  • Top Priorities — up to five other goals with a deadline, nearest first. Click one to open it.
  • Life Areas — a link to the Life Areas page.

Life Areas tiles

Under the top row you see one tile per life area. Each tile shows the number of goals in that area and the share of them you have achieved, with a coloured bar.

Click Edit at the top right of the section, or the Life Areas link, to open the Life Areas page. Clicking a tile opens My Goals filtered to that area.

Upcoming Milestones

This list shows open milestones that have a target date, nearest first. Each row has a coloured dot for its goal's area, the milestone title, the goal name, and the date. Dates in the past are labelled Overdue. Click a row to open its goal. If nothing has a date yet, the list says Add a date to a milestone to see it here.

Upcoming Milestones: each row shows the goal's area dot, the milestone title, the goal name and its date

Needs Attention

This panel lists In Progress goals where no step or milestone has been ticked off for 14 days or more. Each entry shows how long it has been inactive, for example 242d inactive. Click an entry to open the goal. If nothing qualifies, it says No goals have been flagged for inactivity.

Activity, life areas and achievements

At the bottom of the dashboard, the collapsed section Activity, life areas & achievements holds three more views: the activity calendar, the Life Wheel and your achievements. They are described in Insights and achievements.

FAQ

The card always picks the unfinished goal with the nearest deadline. Move that goal's deadline, or mark it Achieved, and the card will choose the next one.

The goals completed number counts goals whose status is Achieved, not steps. Steps only change a goal's progress percentage. See Tracking progress and completing goals.

It is In Progress and nothing in its plan has been ticked off for 14 days or more. Open it, tick a step or a milestone, or change its deadline to reflect what is really happening.
