The Subscriptions page gathers every recurring spending item you have set up on the Recurring page, including subscriptions such as streaming, software, gym or phone plans, and also recurring bills and loan payments. It turns each one into a monthly and yearly cost, so you can see what they add up to.

What you'll learn

  • What the totals mean
  • How to find your biggest recurring costs by category
  • How to filter, sort and export the list

The Subscriptions page

The Subscriptions page: the totals, the By Category breakdown, the filters and the list

What you see

  1. Monthly Total (per month) and Yearly Total (every year).
  2. Active, with how many items are active out of all items, and Inactive, with how many are not being charged.
  3. By Category: a colour bar and a list of each category, with its amount per month, its amount per year and its share of the total.
  4. The Search subscriptions… box, the All, Active and Inactive filters, and the sort menu. The sort options are Amount: High → Low, Amount: Low → High, Name and Next Payment.
  5. CSV downloads the list.
  6. The table, with one row per item: Name and category, Repeat Frequency, Next payment, Monthly, Yearly Total and Price change.

The items come from your recurring transactions. To add or change one, use the Recurring page. Income and savings transfers are not listed.

Read the totals

  • Monthly Total adds up the monthly cost of the active items. Inactive items are not counted.
  • Yearly Total is the same total over a year.
  • Price change shows when an amount has gone up, so you can decide whether to keep paying it. The Price Increase Alerts section, when present, lists those changes together.

Find what costs the most

Look at By Category first. The largest bars are where a cut will save the most. Sort the table by Amount: High → Low to see the most expensive single items.

Use the Active and Inactive filters to check each group on its own.

Mark an item Inactive instead of deleting it when you may return to it. Inactive items stay in the list but are not counted in the monthly total.
