Trip Planner's settings are short and practical: a couple of defaults that save you clicks when you create trips, a shortcut to your notification preferences, and your own activity categories.

Open Settings

Click the gear icon at the bottom of the Trip Planner sidebar. The Settings page has four sections.

Trip Planner settings — default currency, budget tier, notifications and custom categories

Default Currency

Pick the currency you usually travel with — for example USD, EUR, GBP or JPY. It becomes the pre-selected currency in the New Trip form, so you don't have to change it every time. You can still choose a different currency for any individual trip.

Changes are saved as soon as you pick a new option — there's no Save button.

Budget Tier

Choose the style of travel that suits you best:

OptionWhat it means
BudgetHostels, street food, public transit
Mid-Range3-star hotels, restaurants, some taxis
Luxury5-star hotels, fine dining, private transfers

Your choice is used as the default Travel Style in the AI Trip Generator (the AI Generate button on My Trips), so the trips it suggests match how you like to travel.

Your default currency and budget tier are saved in the browser you're using. If you switch to a different computer or browser, set them again there.

Notifications

Click the Notifications button to open your account's notification settings, where you decide which updates you receive and how.

Custom Activity Categories

When you add an activity to your itinerary, you choose a category such as Sightseeing, Dining or Transport. These built-in options are listed under Default Categories. If they don't fit the way you travel, you can add your own — they appear under Your Categories and in the Category list of the Add Activity form.

To create a category:

  1. Click Add.
  2. Type a Name, e.g. "Street Food" or "Wine Tasting".
  3. Click the Icon box ("Click to change") and pick an emoji.
  4. Choose a Color.
  5. Check the Preview, then click Create.

To change a category, click the pencil icon next to it; to remove it, click the red trash icon.

Keep custom categories few and meaningful. Five or six categories that match how you actually travel make your itinerary easier to scan than a long list you never use.

Deleting a category happens immediately, without a confirmation step.

FAQ
