The Map tab shows where your trip happens. Activities, bookings and photos appear as pins on the map, so you can see which places are close together before you decide the order of your days.

Open the trip page and click the Map tab.

The Map tab: pins for your activities and bookings, the layer buttons and the legend

What appears on the map

A pin needs coordinates, which the app gets from the location you enter. An activity or booking without a location has no pin.

Above the map are four buttons that show or hide layers:

  • Activities: the activities of the trip.
  • Bookings: your bookings with a location.
  • Photos: photos from the trip album that have a location.
  • Route: a line that joins the pins in their order.
The four layer buttons with their counts, and the counter on the right that shows how many items are on the map and how many have no coordinates.

Below the map, the Legend lists the categories in use. Click a category to show only that category. Click All to show every category again.

If some items have no coordinates, the page tells you how many items are not on the map. The message reads "N items don't have coordinates and are not shown on the map. Add latitude/longitude to display them." Open those items on the Itinerary or Bookings tab and add a location.

If the trip has no pins at all, the tab says "No locations on the map yet" and "Add coordinates to your activities and bookings to see them here."

The empty state of the Map tab, shown when no activity or booking has coordinates yet.

Draw the route

  1. Turn on Route. A line joins the activity pins in their order.
  2. Turn Route off again to see the pins alone.

Optimize the order

Optimize Route reorders the activity pins to shorten the walk or drive between them. It needs at least three activity pins with coordinates. When the order has been optimized, the button changes to Optimized! and an Optimized Route label appears above the map.

Optimize changes the order shown on the map and the route. It does not change the day numbers or the order on the Itinerary tab. To change the itinerary, reorder the activities there.

Click Clear to remove the optimized order and go back to the saved order.

Export the map

When a static map image is available for the trip, the Export Map button appears. It opens the map image in a new tab, where you can save it.

Plan one day at a time. Select a category in the legend, such as Dining, to see where your restaurants are, then decide where to put them in the day.

FAQ
