Packing lists in Trip Planner don't start from a blank page. One click builds a list based on your destination's weather and the kind of things you'll be doing, and then you tick items off as they go in the bag.
Where to find your packing lists
- Packing Lists in the sidebar shows a card for each of your planned and ongoing trips, with a progress counter such as 0/124 and a percentage.
- On a trip page, the Packing tab shows the same card for just that trip.
- On the dashboard, Packing in Trip essentials shows how many items you've packed.
Click a trip's card to open its list. Past trips don't appear on the Packing Lists page, but you can still reach their lists from the trip's Packing tab.
Generate a list in one click
If a trip doesn't have a packing list yet, its card says No packing list yet. To create one:
- Click Select Activities and pick everything that applies — Beach, Hiking, Business, Swimming, Skiing, Nightlife, Road Trip and more.
- Click Smart Generate.
Trip Planner builds a list using the weather forecast for your destination, the activities you chose, and the activities already in your itinerary (a "Mount Batur sunrise trek" counts as hiking, for example). A ski trip and a beach trip get very different lists.
Plan your itinerary first, then generate your packing list — the more activities your trip has, the better tailored the list will be. If your plans change, click Regenerate to rebuild the generated list. You'll be asked to confirm, because it replaces everything in the Smart Packing List — including items you added to it by hand and the ones you'd already ticked off. Other packing lists on the trip aren't affected.
Pack and tick items off
Open the list and you'll see your items grouped by category — Clothing, Documents, Electronics, Health & Beauty and so on — each with a counter like 0/2.
- Tick an item: click the circle next to it. The trip's progress bar and percentage update straight away.
- Add an item: click Add Item next to a list, type the name, choose a category and click Add.
- Remove an item: click its red trash icon and confirm.
- Find something: use Search items..., or click a category button at the top to show only that category.
Some items get small helpful labels — for example, valuables like a passport or laptop are flagged to keep in your carry-on. The similar items button highlights items that look like duplicates (for example, two kinds of walking shoes), so you can review them and remove the extras.
Weight and bags
The toolbar shows an estimated total weight, such as ≈ 21.6kg, and whether it fits in a carry-on or a checked bag. Each item shows an estimated weight (like ~200g); click it to enter the exact weight if you know it.
Click Bags to see how your items are spread across Carry-On, Checked 1, Personal and Unassigned, each with its weight and limit. You can:
- drag items onto a bag,
- tick several items with Select All or the checkboxes and move them together, or
- click Auto-Pack to let Trip Planner distribute everything for you.
Weights are estimates to help you plan. Always check your airline's baggage allowance — limits vary by airline and ticket type.
The PDF button downloads a printable checklist (available on paid plans).
FAQ
Yes. Click the trash icon next to the list's Add Item button and confirm. This deletes the list and all of its items and can't be undone.
The page only shows trips that are planned or ongoing. Open a completed trip from My Trips and use its Packing tab instead.
When a trip is three days or less away, the Packing Lists page shows a reminder at the top so you don't forget to finish packing.
