The Dashboard is the first page of Trip Planner. Its job is to show you the trip that matters most right now, with the parts of that trip you need next. Use it to check today's plan, see what is still missing before you leave, and jump into the full trip page.

Overview and Travel insights

At the top of the dashboard there are two buttons:

  • Overview (the default) shows the focused trip.
  • Travel insights switches to statistics about all your travels. See Travel insights.

On the right is the New Trip button, which opens the New Trip window from any view.

Which trip is shown

The dashboard focuses on one trip:

  1. If you open the dashboard with a trip in the address (for example after choosing one), that trip is shown.
  2. Otherwise it picks the trip you are on now, or else your next upcoming trip.

When you have more than one trip, a drop-down in the top-right of the trip card lets you choose another trip. The rest of the dashboard then updates to that trip.

The trip card

The card shows:

  • A status badge: Upcoming trip, On your trip or Past trip.
  • The destination, the trip name, and the dates, for example "Apr 2, 2027 — Apr 13, 2027".
  • The number of travelers, if you added any.
  • For an upcoming trip, a countdown such as 163 days to go.
  • The Open itinerary button, which opens the trip page on the Itinerary tab. See The trip page.

Your itinerary

Your itinerary is a short daily view of the plan.

  • All shows every activity of the trip.
  • Choose a day focuses on one day. On trips up to 7 days long, you see one button per day with its date instead of the drop-down.
  • The counter at the top right shows how many activities the view contains, for example "Activities: 13".
  • Activities are numbered in order. Each row shows the activity name and its day, date and time, or "Flexible time" if no time is set.
  • Edit plan opens the full itinerary on the trip page.
Your itinerary panel: the All and Choose a day filters, the activity count, the numbered list and the map hint at the bottom.

When an activity has a map position, a small map appears next to the list for the selected day. Click an activity to highlight it on the map. If the day has no locations yet, you see "Add locations to see this day on the map."

If the day is empty, the section shows "A day to make your own" with an Add activity button.

Trip essentials and the budget summary

Trip essentials

The Trip essentials panel links to three pages. Each row shows a short status:

RowWhat the status meansOpens

When the trip has packing items, a progress bar shows how much you have packed.

If one of these can't load, the row says "Unavailable right now".

Budget

The Budget card shows:

  • Spent: the total of the expenses you have recorded for this trip, in the trip's currency.
  • A progress bar and Remaining, when the trip has a budget. If you spend more than the budget, the caption says Over budget instead.
  • Manage budget, which opens the Budget tab. See Trip budget.

Only expenses count here. Booking costs are not added unless you also record them as expenses.

The Budget card: the amount spent, the remaining budget and the Manage budget link.

Forecast

Below the main panels is a strip called Forecast now with the destination and the next five days, each with a high and a low temperature. It appears only when the trip has a destination and a forecast is available.

The Forecast now strip for Tokyo, Japan: the next five days, each with a high and a low temperature.

FAQ

The dashboard focuses on the trip you are on now, or otherwise your next upcoming trip. Use the trip drop-down on the trip card to choose another trip.

The map appears only when at least one activity of the chosen day has map coordinates. Add a location to an activity, or open the trip's Map tab to see which items are missing coordinates.

The dashboard counts only the expenses you recorded. Add expenses on the Budget tab of the trip, or on the Budget & Expenses page.
