Trip Planner keeps everything about a trip in one place: the day-by-day plan, your spending, your reservations and your packing list. Everything starts with a trip, so the first thing to do is create one. It takes about two minutes.

Your first look at the dashboard

Open Trip Planner from the product switcher at the top of the left sidebar. You land on the Dashboard.

If you haven't created a trip yet, the dashboard shows "No trips planned yet" with two buttons: Plan a Trip and Templates. Click Plan a Trip to get started.

Once you have trips, the dashboard always focuses on the one that matters most right now — the trip you're currently on, or otherwise your next upcoming trip. It shows:

  • The trip card — destination, dates, number of travelers and a countdown such as "164 days to go". Use the drop-down in the top-right of the card to switch to another trip.
  • Your itinerary — the activities you've planned, with an All button and a Choose a day picker. Click Edit plan to open the full itinerary.
  • Trip essentials — quick links to Bookings, Packing and Documents, each with a short status like "0 of 124 packed".
  • Budget — how much you've spent and how much is left, with a Manage budget link.

The Travel insights tab at the top of the dashboard switches to an overview of all your travels.

Create a trip

Click New Trip (top right of the dashboard, or on the My Trips page). The New Trip window opens:

FieldWhat to enterRequired?
Trip NameA name you'll recognize, e.g. "Summer in Italy"Yes
DestinationStart typing a city and pick it from the suggestionsNo, but recommended
Start Date / End DateYour travel datesYes
Budget (optional)Your total budget, plus the currency for this tripNo
TravelersNames separated by commas, e.g. "Emily, James"No
The New Trip form — only the name and dates are required

The Create Trip button stays greyed out until you've entered a name and both dates. When you click it, your new trip opens straight away.

Add a destination even if your plans are still loose. Trip Planner uses it to show a weather forecast on the trip page and to tailor your smart packing list.

The travelers you list here are the names you'll pick from when you record who paid for an expense, so it's worth adding everyone who's going.

Find your way around a trip

Every trip has its own page. At the top you'll see the trip name, destination, dates, number of days and budget, plus a badge showing how many days are left (or how long ago the trip ended).

  • The pencil button next to the name opens Edit Trip, where you can change the name, destination, dates, budget and travelers, set the trip Status (Planned, Ongoing, Completed or Cancelled) and add a short description. The trip's currency can't be changed after it's created.
  • Share creates a public read-only link to the trip and copies it to your clipboard. Click it again to stop sharing.
  • ICS downloads the trip as a calendar file you can import into Google Calendar, Apple Calendar or Outlook.
  • PDF downloads a printable summary of the trip (available on paid plans).

Below the header, a row of summary tiles shows Total Spent, Remaining, Daily Avg, Activities and how much is packed. Underneath are the trip tabs: Itinerary, Map, Budget, Bookings, Packing, Photos and Group.

The My Trips page

My Trips in the sidebar lists all your trips as cards. You can search by name or destination, filter by status (All, Planned, Ongoing, Completed, Cancelled) or by date (Upcoming, This Month, Past), and sort By Date, By Name or By Budget.

My Trips — search, filter and sort all of your trips

To delete a trip, hover over its card and click the trash icon. You'll be asked to confirm, because deleting a trip also removes all of its activities, expenses, bookings and packing items.

The AI Generate button on My Trips creates a complete trip with a suggested itinerary from just a destination, dates, a budget, a travel style and your interests.

Next steps

  1. Plan your itinerary — add activities day by day
  2. Save your bookings — flights, hotels and reservations in one list
  3. Track your budget — log spending as you go
  4. Build your packing list — generate one in a click

FAQ

The free plan includes one trip. Upgrading Trip Planner removes the limit. If you reach the limit, Trip Planner shows an upgrade window instead of the New Trip form.

Yes. Open the trip, click the pencil button next to its name and update the dates in Edit Trip. Activities keep their day numbers, so check your itinerary afterwards.

The trip you're currently on. If you're not travelling, it shows your next upcoming trip, and if you have none, your most recent past trip. You can switch trips from the drop-down on the trip card at any time.
