This article answers the questions we hear most often about Trip Planner, and shows what to do when something does not look right.
Where your data is saved
Most of your data is saved to your account, so it is the same on every device when you sign in: trips, activities, bookings, expenses, packing lists, documents, holidays, gifts, journal entries, photos and group data.
A few choices are saved only in the browser you are using:
- The Default Currency and Budget Tier in Settings.
- The daily limit on a trip's Budget tab.
- Your passport country in the Destination Guide.
- Your loyalty cards in Travel Tools.
If you clear your browser data, or open the app in a different browser, these reset. Set them again where you need them.
Features that use AI
Some features use AI to suggest or generate content. Each of them is limited by your plan:
- AI Generate on My Trips creates a trip plan.
- Auto-Generate on the Itinerary tab creates suggested activities.
- Generate Trip Plan on the Explore tab of Travel Tools creates a plan for a destination.
Travel Tools shows your monthly AI usage at the top of its page. When the monthly allowance is used up, the buttons show a limit message instead of running.
The Scan Receipt button on the expense form reads a photo of a receipt and fills in the fields. Check each field after the scan.
Features marked Coming Soon
The Bank Connection card on a trip's Budget tab is marked Coming Soon. You cannot connect a bank account yet. Enter expenses by hand instead.
PDF export is limited by your plan
The PDF button on the trip page downloads the trip as a PDF. It is limited by your plan, and when your plan does not include it, the app shows the plan options. The ICS button, which adds the trip to a calendar, is available on every plan.
Gmail Sync says it is not configured
Gmail Sync on the Bookings tab works only when Google sign-in is set up for this feature. If you see "Gmail Sync not configured", use Import from Email and paste the confirmation text instead. See Bookings.
A page says "Could not load this information"
The page could not get its data, usually because of a connection problem. Click Retry if the page shows one, or reload the page. If the message stays, check your internet connection and try again later.
The map or forecast is empty
- The map shows only items with a location. Add a location to each activity or booking, and check the message under the map for items that are missing one. See Map.
- The forecast needs a destination on the trip. Add one in Edit Trip.
My shared trip or journal link does not work
A shared trip stops working when you click Shared again to stop sharing. A journal link shows only the entries you have published. See The trip page and Journal.
I cannot find the notifications page
The Trip Planner notifications page is not in the sidebar. To change which notifications you receive, use Notifications in Settings. See Settings.
Wedding honeymoon and Trip Planner
If your honeymoon is planned in the Wedding Planner, its details can be kept in step with a trip. See Honeymoon Bridge.
If something looks wrong, first check the filters on the page and the trip or year you are looking at. Most "missing" items are behind a filter, a different trip, or a different year.
FAQ
Deleting a trip removes it and its data, and the confirmation warns that this cannot be undone. Keep a copy of the important details, such as bookings and documents, before you delete a trip.
Expenses, packing lists, journal entries and gifts belong to a trip, so the app asks you to choose one before you add a new item.
Only you, unless you turn on Share for the trip, publish journal entries, or share a trip to the community. Check what each page shows before you turn sharing on. See The trip page.
