Checking in is the heart of Habit Tracker. There are two places to do it: the Dashboard for a quick tick during the day, and the Tracker page for a spreadsheet-style view of the whole month. Both save to the same place, so use whichever suits the moment.
Quick check-ins on the Dashboard
The Dashboard lists today's daily habits. What you can do from each row depends on the habit's tracking type:
- Yes/No habits have a circle on the right. Click it to Mark complete, and the circle turns into a check mark. Click it again to undo.
- Amount, Timer and Quit habits show a Log link instead. It takes you to the Tracker page, where you can enter the value.
The counter next to Today (for example 1/2) updates as you go. With the default Remaining tab, finished habits drop out of the list so you only see what's left. Switch to Done to review them, or All to see everything.
Catching up on a missed day
Forgot to tick something yesterday? Click that day in the date strip above the list. The list switches to that date, and any check-in you make is saved for that day. The strip shows the last seven days of the current month. For older days, use the Tracker page.
The grid button (next to the list button) shows the same seven days as small boxes for every habit. For Yes/No habits it's a fast way to fill in several days at once. For other types, each box links to the Tracker.
The Tracker: your month at a glance
Open Tracker in the sidebar for the full grid. Each row is a habit, and each column is a day.
Moving around:
- Use the arrows beside the month name to go back or forward a month. Today jumps back to the current month and week.
- Week shows one week at a time. Pick it with the Week 1 … Week 5 tabs. This Month shows every day of the month in one wide grid. On phones the Tracker always uses the week layout.
- Search filters the grid by habit name.
Ticking a day: click any empty box. For Yes/No and Quit habits it's ticked straight away. Click a ticked box to clear it.
Logging an amount or minutes: for Amount and Timer habits, clicking an empty box opens Enter Value. Type the number or use one of the quick buttons (25%, 50%, 75% or 100% of your target), then click Save. The box then shows the number you logged.
What the columns mean
| Column | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Goal | The habit's monthly target (days per month) |
| Circle icon | How many times you've completed it this month |
| Left | How many more completions you need to reach the goal |
| % and bar | Progress toward the goal: green from 80%, yellow from 50% |
| Lightning icon | Current Streak |
| Trophy icon | Longest Streak |
Weekly habits have their own grid further down. Open Weekly Overview for a per-week summary. For charts, open Global Progress at the bottom of the page. It shows an Overall Daily Progress donut and rankings of your Top 10 Daily Habits and Top 3 Weekly Habits.
How streaks are counted
- Current Streak counts the days in a row you've completed the habit, going back from today. If you haven't done today's yet, counting starts from yesterday, so your streak doesn't break until the day is actually over.
- Weekly habits count weeks in a row instead of days.
- Longest Streak is your best run ever for that habit. It stays even after a current streak ends.
Check in at the same moment every day, for example right after brushing your teeth at night. If you miss a day you can still backfill it from the date strip or the Tracker, so your streak reflects what you really did.
Paused habits are hidden from the Dashboard and the Tracker. Their history is kept, and they reappear when you resume them on My Habits.
Frequently asked questions
FAQ
The current streak only counts unbroken days up to yesterday or today. Your best past run is still shown as the Longest Streak.
On the Tracker, click the box to clear it, then click it again and enter the right value.
Amount and Timer habits need a number, so the Dashboard shows a Log link that takes you to the Tracker, where you can enter it.
