Categories group your habits by area of life, for example Health & Fitness, Mindfulness or Learning. Each category has a name, an emoji and a colour. Categories help you filter the Dashboard, the Tracker and My Habits, and they show up in the Analytics breakdown.
Open Categories from the Daily practice group in the sidebar. The page shows a New Category button and one row per category, with its name, colour and the number of habits in it.
What you see
- The category's emoji and colour.
- The number of habits in the category.
- The Edit (pencil) and Delete (trash) buttons on each row.
Create a category
- Click New Category.
- Type a Category Name, for example Health & Fitness.
- Choose an Emoji and a Color.
- Click Create.
Use Cancel to close the form without saving.
Edit a category
Click Edit on a category row. The form opens with its current name, emoji and colour. Change what you need and click Save. Renaming a category doesn't change the habits in it.
Delete a category
Click Delete on a category row and confirm.
Deleting a category also deletes every habit in it. The confirmation says so: Delete this category and all habits in it? This also removes those habits from your tracker. Move the habits to another category first if you want to keep them. Edit each habit on My Habits and change its Category.
Where categories show up
- Dashboard rail. Each category has a button with its colour and the number of daily and weekly habits in it. Click it to filter the list. See The Dashboard.
- My Habits. The rail on the left lists all habits and then each category with its count. Habits are grouped under their category in the list. See My Habits.
- Analytics. The category summaries use your categories to show progress by area.
