Habits are easier to keep when they come as a package: water, stretch, plan the day, done. A routine is exactly that: an ordered list of steps, each with a duration, which you run with a timer. It's the easiest way to turn a few separate habits into one morning or evening ritual.
Open Routines from the Daily practice section of the sidebar.
Start from a template
If you've never made a routine, the page says No routines yet and offers Browse Templates. You can also open them at any time with the Templates button at the top right.
Templates include short starters like The Minimalist (15 minutes, 5 steps) and Stress Reset, evening routines like Wind Down, and longer ones like Deep Work Block. Click a template to copy it into the routine form, where you can change anything before saving.
Build or adjust your routine
Whether you start from a template or click New Routine, you get the same form:
- Name and Emoji: what you'll see on the routine card.
- Time of Day: Morning, Afternoon, Evening or Anytime. You can also set a Start Time if you like doing it at a fixed hour.
- Active Days: tap the days the routine applies to. Monday to Friday is selected by default. Tap a day again to remove it.
- Steps: the heart of the routine.
- Under Quick add from habits, click any of your habits to add it as a step. Steps added this way are marked LINKED.
- Click Add Custom Step for something that isn't a habit, such as "Make coffee".
- Type the minutes for each step in the box on the right. The total time appears next to Steps.
- Use the × button to remove a step.
- Click Create Routine (or Save when editing). Cancel closes the form without saving.
Keep a new routine under 15 minutes. A short routine you actually finish beats an ambitious one you skip. You can always add steps once it feels automatic.
Run your routine with the timer
Your routines appear as cards showing the time of day, total minutes and the first few steps. Click Start routine to open the timer.
- The left side shows Step 1 of 5, the step name and a countdown.
- − and + take a minute off or add a minute, and the middle button pauses or resumes.
- Next Step moves on when you're done. On the last step this button says Complete. Skip Step moves on and records the step as skipped.
- At the end you'll see Routine Complete! with how many steps you finished (for example 5 / 5). Click Save to record the session.
If you close the timer with the × before the end, nothing is saved.
Finishing a routine saves the session, but it doesn't tick the linked habits on your Dashboard or Tracker. Check those off as usual after your routine.
Start a routine from the Dashboard
When a routine is set for today, its name appears at the bottom of the Dashboard's left panel, in place of the plain Routines link. Click it to jump straight into the timer. If no routine is scheduled for today, the link simply opens the Routines page.
Edit or delete a routine
Use the pencil button on a routine card to open it in the Edit Routine form, or the trash button to delete it. You'll be asked to confirm before it's removed. Routines can't be edited or deleted while their timer is running.
