The Habit Tracker Dashboard

What every part of the Habit Tracker Dashboard does: the Today counter, the date strip, the category rail, the Remaining, All and Done tabs, the list and grid views, Weekly Habits and Monthly Goals.

The Dashboard is the first page you see in Habit Tracker. It answers one question: what do I still need to do today? Use it to tick off habits during the day. Use the Tracker when you want to see a whole month, and Analytics when you want to see patterns.

The page has two columns. On the left is a narrow rail for filtering. On the right is the main area with today's habits.

The left rail: filter by time and category

The rail: all habits, the four times of day and your categories, each with a count

Click one of these to filter the main list. The selected item is highlighted.

  1. all habits shows every daily habit with its total count.
  2. Morning, Afternoon, Evening and Anytime show only habits with that Time of Day. Each row shows how many habits it contains.
  3. Categories lists each category used by your habits, with a colour dot and a count. Click one to see only its habits.
  4. Analytics opens the Analytics page.
  5. The routine link at the bottom starts your routine. If you have a routine, the link shows its name, for example The Minimalist, and opens it ready to start. If you have none, it opens Routines so you can create one or browse templates.

The rail filter also narrows the Weekly Habits and Monthly Goals sections below, so you can focus on one time of day or one category across the whole page.

The header: Today, the counter and New Habit

At the top of the main area you see the selected date and a counter. The counter reads like 3/19: three daily habits are finished out of nineteen for that day. If you pick an earlier day in the date strip, the counter shows that day's numbers.

Next to it is the New Habit button. It opens the habit form on the My Habits page. The form is explained in Creating and editing habits.

The header on a day with no check-ins yet: the date, the Today counter (0/21) and the New Habit button.

The date strip: catch up on earlier days

Today counter, date strip, New Habit, list and grid buttons, and the filter tabs

The strip shows up to seven days: the current day and the six days before it, all within the current month. Click a day to see its habits. Ticking a habit on that day saves the check-in for that day, so you can fill in yesterday or the day before.

The strip only goes back to the first day of the current month. For older days, use the Tracker.

Choose a view: list or grid

The two buttons on the right of the toolbar switch the display. They are labelled List view and Grid view.

  • List view shows each habit as a row with its emoji, name, time of day and a circle you click to tick it.
  • Grid view shows the whole week for every habit. Above the grid are the day numbers. Yes/No habits show a small circle you can click for each day. Other habits show a + or a check mark that links to the Tracker, where you enter the value.
Grid view: each daily habit has one cell per day for the last seven days, ending today.

Filter with Remaining, All and Done

These three tabs control which habits appear in the list:

  • Remaining (the default) shows habits you haven't finished for the selected day.
  • All shows every daily habit, finished or not.
  • Done shows only the habits you've finished.
The Remaining, All and Done tabs. The active tab is purple and underlined.

When every habit is finished, the list shows a message that says all habits are done. When a filter has no matches, it says there are no habits in this view.

Under Remaining, a collapsible Done section at the bottom lists what you've already finished. Open it to review or undo a habit.

Tick a habit

Daily habits in list view: a circle for Yes/No habits and a count with Show more at the bottom

Each daily row shows what you need to do:

  • Yes/No habits have a circle on the right. Click it to mark the habit complete. Click it again to undo.
  • Amount, Timer and Quit habits show a Log link instead. The link opens the Tracker, where you enter the number or minutes. See The Tracker.

Only the first five habits in the list are shown at first. Click Show N more at the bottom to see the rest, and Show less to collapse the list again.

Use the Time of Day filters in the rail to work through your day. Click Morning after breakfast, Evening before bed, and you only see what's left for that part of the day.

Weekly Habits

Weekly Habits: the first three weekly habits with their progress for the week

Weekly habits don't appear in the Daily Habits list. They have their own Weekly Habits section with up to three habits and a progress count for the week, for example 1/3. You can't tick them here. Click View All to open the Tracker, where you log each day.

Monthly Goals

Monthly Goals opens to show the first three habits and their progress toward the monthly target

Monthly Goals is a collapsible section listing up to three habits with their progress toward this month's target. Open it to see how close each habit is. Click View All to see every habit on the Tracker.

Empty states and errors

  • No habits yet. The list says "Make room for your first daily habit." and shows a New Habit button.
  • Loading. The list shows Loading... until your habits arrive.
  • Load failed. The list shows "We couldn't load your habits. Please try again." with a Retry button.
  • Partial failure. If only the routine data fails to load, the page shows "Some dashboard data couldn't load. You can retry." with a Retry button. Your habits still work.

Frequently asked questions
