An objective is a goal for a period, for example "Launch the new website". A key result is a number that shows whether you reached it, for example "Publish 12 pages". The OKR page keeps both in one place and works out the progress for you.
Open OKR in the Planning group of the sidebar.
What you see
- The heading Turn objectives into measurable results and the New Objective button.
- Four summary cards: Total Objectives, Active Objectives, Completed and Key Results. They follow the period you pick.
- A search box, a Period filter and a Status filter. The status choices are Draft, Active, Completed and Canceled.
- One card per objective. It shows the status, the period (such as 2026-Q4), the title, an optional description and the overall Progress.
- Under each objective, a Key Results section you can fold open or closed. Each result shows Current, Target, a progress percentage and a Confidence percentage.
- On each result, an Update progress button. On each objective, a pencil icon to edit it and an Add key result link.
The Period filter lists every period you have used. The note on the page says the summary follows the selected period, and that an objective's progress is the average of its key results.
How to create an objective
- Click New Objective.
- Enter a Title. This is required.
- Add a Description if you want.
- Set the Period. It starts as the current quarter, such as 2026-Q4. You can type your own label of up to 10 characters.
- Choose a Status. New objectives start as Active.
- Click Save.
An objective with no key results shows a dash instead of a percentage, because there is nothing to measure yet.
How to add a key result
- On the objective, click Add key result.
- Enter a Title.
- Choose a Measurement: Number, Percentage, Currency or Yes / no.
- Fill in the Starting value and the Target. They must be different, or the page shows "Starting value and target must be different." and Save stays off.
- Add a Unit (optional), such as "pages". Percentage results show a % sign on their own.
- Click Save.
For a Yes / no result the numbers are fixed, so there is nothing to type. It is either not done or done.
How to update progress
Do this whenever you have a new number.
- Click Update progress on the key result.
- Type the new value in Current. For a Yes / no result you pick it from a list instead.
- Set Confidence (%) from 0 to 100. The hint asks: "How confident are you that this result will reach its target?"
- Add an Update note (optional) to explain the change.
- Click Save.
The progress bar and the objective's overall percentage update right away.
Keep each objective to a few key results. Three or four numbers you really watch are better than ten you ignore.
How to edit an objective
Click the pencil on the objective card. The window title is Edit. Change the title, description, period or status. To close an objective that is finished, set its status to Completed. To drop it, set Canceled. Both stay in the list under the Status filter.
The page has no delete button for objectives or key results. Use Canceled for objectives you no longer want to track.
FAQ
It is the average of the progress of its key results. If there are none, you see a dash.
No. Confidence is your own estimate, shown next to the result. It's a quick way to flag results you are worried about.
Objective cards can show a project name when one is linked, but the form on this page has no project field.
Set the starting value higher than the target. The result is measured from the start toward the target, so it works in either direction.
