NevaPlan gives you two ways to look at risk. Risk Analysis (in the Planning group) lists alerts the app calculates from your project data. Risk Register (in the Docs & Knowledge group) is a list you write yourself, risk by risk. Use the first to be warned, and the second to record what you decided to do about it.
Risk Analysis
Risk Analysis shows saved alerts. The page says so itself: they are not a live assessment. Press Analyze All to refresh them. Having no alerts does not mean there is no risk.
How alerts are made
When you press Analyze All, NevaPlan checks each of your projects with fixed rules. They look at things such as overdue tasks, overloaded team members, budget, how close the deadline is, how many tasks were added recently, and overdue tasks that block others. Each project gets a score from 0 to 100. The level is Low under 25, Medium from 25, High from 50 and Critical from 75. Only projects at Medium or above get alerts. The app does not use AI here. It is a calculation you can trace back to your own data.
What you see
- An Analyze All button in the page header. While it works, it says Analyzing....
- A short note about what the alerts mean.
- Four summary tiles: Overall Risk, Critical, High and Medium. Overall Risk is the average score of your saved alerts. It shows a question mark when there are no alerts.
- Filter buttons: All Risks, Critical, High, Medium and Low.
- The alert list. Each alert has a title, a description, the number of projects it affects, and an Acknowledge button.
- A Mitigation Priority card with up to five suggested actions and their scores.
If no alert matches the filter, the page says No saved alerts match this filter.
How to use it
- Open Risk Analysis.
- Click Analyze All to bring the alerts up to date.
- Click Critical to see the most serious alerts first.
- Read the description. It names the cause, for example how many tasks are overdue.
- Fix the cause in your project: finish or reschedule the overdue tasks, change the budget, or move the deadline.
- Click Acknowledge on an alert once you've seen it and decided what to do. The button disappears for that alert.
Run Analyze All again after you fix something to see whether the score drops.
Don't treat a quiet page as a clean bill of health. The alerts only cover what NevaPlan can see in your tasks, budget and dates. Risks that live outside the app belong in the Risk Register.
Risk Register
The Risk Register is your own list of risks. Nothing is added to it automatically.
What you see
- An Add Risk button in the page header.
- Category filter buttons: All, TECHNICAL, FINANCIAL, SCHEDULE, RESOURCE and EXTERNAL.
- The Risk Matrix (Probability x Impact). It is a grid. Impact runs left to right and probability runs from the highest at the top to the lowest at the bottom. Each square shows how many risks sit there, with a dash for none. Red squares hold the biggest risks. The grid follows the category filter.
- A card for each risk. It shows the title, probability, impact and category, then the description, the Owner, the Score, the Status and the Mitigation if you wrote one.
- A pencil icon to edit the risk and a trash icon to delete it.
The levels and categories appear in capital letters, such as MEDIUM or SCHEDULE.
How to add a risk
- Click Add Risk.
- Enter a Risk title.... This is the only required field.
- Add a Description... to explain what could go wrong.
- Choose a Probability and an Impact: LOW, MEDIUM, HIGH or CRITICAL.
- Choose a Category.
- Under Project, link the risk to a project, or leave No project.
- Type the Risk owner name.... This is a free text name.
- Write the Mitigation plan...: what you will do to reduce the risk.
- Click Create.
The Score on each card is calculated from the probability and impact you choose. The form has no field for Status, so you can't set it here.
How to edit or delete a risk
- Click the pencil. The window is named Edit Risk. Change what you need and click Update.
- Click the trash icon and confirm Delete this risk? to remove it.
Review the register at your regular team meeting. Update the probability and impact of each risk, and write down who owns the next step.
FAQ

It recalculates the saved alerts for your projects using fixed rules and your current task, budget and date data.
There are no saved alerts yet. Click Analyze All. If it still shows a question mark, no project reached the alert level.
You can type an owner name in Risk owner name.... It is plain text and is not linked to a user account.
